VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT LOURDES IN LITCHFIELD
Gift Shop Volunteers
What: Gift Shop volunteers help putting stock on shelves and provide information to customers.
Some volunteers serve as cashiers.
Retail experience is helpful.
When? Anytime the Gift Shop is open.
Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 – 4:00
Sunday after Mass until 4:00.
You can come for any amount of time during those hours.
It helps if you have a consistent time you can volunteer.
Grotto Café Kitchen Volunteers
What: Help with baking, preparing lunches, serving customers, dining room set up, working as a cashier, or working the grill.
When? A few hours on a day the Café is open.
Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday 10:00 – 2:00.
Can you help on a Friday? If we can get a team together, we can open the Café on Friday too.
LITURGICAL MINISTERS
Readers at Mass
What? Do one of the readings from Scripture at Mass .
When? Any day, Tuesday through Sunday at 11:30.
Training will be provided.
Ministers of Communion
What? Help give out communion at Mass on Sunday.
When? Sunday at 11:30
Training will be provided.
Sunday Ushers at Mass
What? Help put out hymnals and collection baskets before Sunday Mass.
Welcome people to the Grotto, help with the collection, help direct people at Communion time.
When? 11:00 on Sundays until after Mass
Altar Servers (open to all ages)
What? Carry the cross in processions before and after Mass
During the Preparation of the Gifts, help at the altar with the water and wine, and with the washing of the priest’s hands.
When? Sunday Mass. Arrive at 11:15.
Post Sunday Mass Clean Up
What? Put away hymnal carts and collection baskets
When? After Sunday Mass – a ten minute task
Golf Cart Taxi
What? Help transport disabled visitors from the parking lot using the Shrine Golf Cart
When? 11:00 and again at 12:30 on Sundays
Grotto Chapel Environment
What? Help setting up banners and other items for the different liturgical seasons in the Grotto Chapel.
Vacuuming, general housekeeping.
When? Occasionally as needed.
MONTFORT HOUSE VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer Receptionists at Montfort House.
What? Answer phones and take messages, greet people who come to the door at Montfort House, help with clerical duties.
When? Monday through Friday, any time between 9 and 5. Come for a few hours or more.
It helps if you have a consistent time you can volunteer.
Housekeeping Volunteers at Montfort House.
What? Help set up for retreats at Montfort House, prepare guest rooms, general cleaning, laundry, help put house in order after retreats.
When? Occasionally as needed. Monday availability is ideal.
Concierge Assistance at Montfort House.
What? Greet retreatants as they arrive, show them to their rooms, offer general information about the house.
When? Occasionally as needed. Predominantly Friday late afternoon and early evening.
MAINTENANCE VOLUNTEERS
What? Help keep the Grotto area clean
Adopt a garden to care for by the Shrine of St. Joseph or by the Shrine of Mary at Montfort House.
Help care for the flower beds at Montfort House.
General grounds work. Adopt a space to consistently look after.
When? A few hours a week.
Volunteer Seamstress
What? Help with occasional sewing projects, repairing vestments and banners.
When? Occasionally as needed.
