Dear Friends,

As you are well aware, we are in the midst of another New England heating season, and we are faced with the challenge of paying for fuel to keep the Shrine buildings and Montfort House warm and comfortable for you and our guests.

Consequently, we are turning to you, who have been generous supporters of the Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield and of Montfort House, to ask if you can contribute to our winter fuel drive.

In the past, we began this fuel drive in the autumn, and some of you have already stepped forward with contributions for fuel. We are grateful for your ongoing concern and generosity.  January through March are financially lean months at the Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield – with fewer people visiting the Shrine and our Gift Shop. Our cash flow slows down at this time of the year. If you have not already made a contribution to our fuel fund, would you consider lending a hand to keep the fires burning for the rest of the winter?  Any donation, large or small, would be appreciated.

If you are able to help Lourdes in Litchfield and Montfort House, please use the enclosed envelope, and make a note on your check that your contribution is for the Fuel Fund.

During the month of November (the Month of the Holy Souls), we will remember all those who have died among your family and friends. We also enclose a page on which you can inscribe the names of people near and dear to you whom you would like remembered at daily Mass during the month. These names will be placed on the altar the whole month of November.  It is our privilege to pray for these dearly departed.  This is our gift to you.  Please do not send any offerings for this. Just mail your list of names to us or drop them off at Montfort House during the week or at the Grotto Chapel on Sunday mornings.

Thank you for all you do to make Lourdes in Litchfield and Montfort House a place of peace and prayer for all those who come here.  Blessings on you and your loved ones.

Sincerely,

Fr. Don LaSalle, S.M.M.

Shrine Director
